DOUGLAS connects to its suppliers using BAYARD‘s BYRD platform

Dusseldorf, Cologne, August 2022Europe‘s leading platform for premium beauty & health introduces BYRD to optimise product content consistently for stores and e-commerce — Automated quality check — Faster listings

DOUGLAS is set to optimise its product content consistently across stores and e-commerce using BAYARD‘s BYRD platform. This will enable Europe‘s leading platform for premium beauty & health to achieve its aim of making the quality management of its product content more efficient and completing listings faster. Following a successful test run with selected suppliers last year, DOUGLAS will use the BYRD platform as a pre-system both for the listing process and for sourcing product content for its e-commerce business.

Going forward, DOUGLAS’s suppliers will be able to transmit their product master data either via the BYRD platform’s user-friendly interface or via an Excel upload. Both when entering this manually or when uploading it to BYRD in Excel, they will receive immediate feedback on the quality of their data. This allows them to make corrections at an early stage before DOUGLAS receives the data. In addition, suppliers will also have the option of transferring their data to DOUGLAS via the GDSN data pool as the project progresses.

Regardless of the method of transmission, the data in BYRD is transferred in aggregated form to DOUGLAS systems and automatically checked for completeness and quality. In this way, the item set-up process can be implemented faster and more efficiently.

In addition to aggregating and validating data from different sources, BYRD also takes on the task of standardising all product master data and content syndication at DOUGLAS. The system thus supplies the downstream systems, such as SAP for the listing process and the online shop solutions, with high-quality product content.

The collaboration on the BYRD platform replaces manual complaints handling. This includes, for example, objections to incomplete or incorrect data via email to suppliers. BYRD will also process required documents such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the transmission of security-related information on substances and product specification. The SAP-based master data systems are automatically supplied from BYRD with the quality-checked data in the SAP data standard.

„We are agile in responding to the constantly fast-changing wishes of our customers in our stores and in our online shop,“ says Christian Brand, IT Manager at DOUGLAS. „This leads to increasing demands and more frequent changes in the product range. BYRD helps us to speed up implementing listing decisions and item creation processes and to make it easier for our business partners to transmit new product data in a quality-checked manner.“

The first suppliers should be able to use BYRD before the end of the current business year. An international roll-out is also planned in further project phases.
